The girl is out there!

In good company!

The Feel Teal Club made a promise to its supporters…and we plan to keep it!

The 2010 ovarian cancer awareness campaign was launched with great anticipation, and it continues to grow….there is still NO fool-proof method for detecting this gynecological-cancer, so our women, are still at risk!
The idea that a “pap-smear” will protect you is a complete myth, this is ONLY used when identifying cervical issues….NOT the ovaries.

The Feel Teal Club works tirelessly promoting awareness so that the correct information is available to the public-
Educating is an integral part of our “awareness” campaign, always ensuring the public are well-informed means they are also well-equipped!
Our Awareness Affiliate programme  plays an important role by sharing this message through our members, and their personal/business connections.
Support from Musicians/Artists, Magazine Editors, Comedians, Writers & Entrepreneurs means we are definitely in “good company”….so why not join us?

We do not ask for donations or any form of monetary contribution as our club is purely not-for-profit.
To become an Affiliate you will receive ongoing FREE promotion via the official website and all we ask in return is a link back to us!
We are doing this for women & girls worldwide and welcome any who wish to be a part of this wonderful campaign.

Thank you,
Debbie Stevens

WHAT IS OVARIAN CANCER?

It’s when the cells in the ovaries grow abnormally & the body’s natural defences can’t stop them. These abnormal cells form growth

WHO IS AT RISK?
Ovarian
Cancer, the second most common female reproductive system cancer, can
strike at any age, but it is most common among women just before
entering menopause (perimenopause) and then during and after menopause.
This
disease also tends to run in families, so women with first-degree
relatives (a mother or sister) who have had ovarian cancer are at higher
risk) Others at risk include women who have not had children or delayed
their first pregnancy until after age 35 and those who have had colon,
breast or endometrial cancer. The causes of Ovarian Cancer are not
known. Some factors seem to put women at a higher risk of developing
ovarian cancer. Many women who develop ovarian cancer do not have these
risk factors. At the same time many women who do have the risk factors
do not develop ovarian cancer. Other possible risk factors include long
term use of genital deodorants & other products containing talc,
& treatment with fertility drugs.

‘What are the symptoms?’

Most common symptoms are:

Unexplained
weight gain; abdominal swelling and vague pelvic discomfort; change in
bowel habit ie: diarrhea or constipation; urinary changes ie: frequency
or urgency; bleeding, apart from normal monthly period; feeling of
fullness and bloating; indigestion or feeling ‘sick’; tired; loss of
appetite

SEE A DOCTOR IF THESE SYMPTOMS LAST LONGER THAN 2 WEEKS!

Are you raising awareness? Do you have a Website/Blog or FaceBook page?

If you answered “yes” to any of the “above”, then we want to hear from you!

The Feel Teal Club
remains committed to sharing relevant links and always happy to
promote. Constantly updating our pages to keep the public informed, the
Feel Teal Club has you covered!

“Awareness” is contagious so let’s keep spreading the message.Send your emails to debbie@feeltealclub.com

The Feel Teal Club was especially designed for the general public & Artists of every industry. Worldwide, the colour TEAL was chosen to represent Ovarian cancer, though sadly, it is still yet to be widely recognised.

Article Submission Guidelines-Grammar

If you adhere to these article submission guidelines, you will improve the chances of your articles being published! That’s a pretty big reason to take the extra time to be sure that your article is free of grammar and spelling errors.

The following are major grammar errors that commonly result in articles being declined. As you look over these basic rules of grammar, you will say to yourself, “I know this stuff already!”

Yes, these are very silly mistakes, but they are extremely common nonetheless.

1 – The subject and verb of your sentence must agree. For example: “He runs in the race” rather than “He run in the race”.

2 – The first letter of each sentence should be capitalized.

Duh, right? I think this type of error is a spillover from texting and instant messaging where people tend to be very relaxed with capitalization. Your articles should be written with the same level of formality as if you were crafting a cover letter to send to a future employer. Potential customers are looking at your article, so you want to make the best impression possible.

3- Each sentence needs to have a full stop at the end (period, exclamation point, question mark). This is another very obvious and silly mistake, but one I see quite frequently. I think this one is probably the result of the writer being in a hurry and not proofreading the article.

4 – Always capitalize the word “I”. For example, “He wanted to leave, but i decided to stay.” Obviously, this should be “He wanted to leave, but I decided to stay.” I am seeing this error more frequently, so this is just a friendly reminder that the word “I” should always be capitalized.

5 – Use multiple paragraphs in your article. You should not submit articles that are only one paragraph long. Your article should have an introductory paragraph, a concluding paragraph, and paragraphs in between that support the topic of your article.

6 – It’s and Its

“It’s” is a contraction for the words “it is” or “it has.” Ex: “It’s going to snow today!”

“Its” is a possessive pronoun. Ex: “The Golden Retriever is known for its friendly personality.”

7 – Your and You’re

The word “your” refers to something that belongs to you or is related to you. Ex: “Did you remember to bring your wallet?”

“You’re” is short for “you are”. Ex: “You’re going to be late if you don’t hurry.”

8 – Their, There, and They’re

“Their” is a plural possessive pronoun: “Their house is lovely.”

“They’re” is short for ‘they are:” “They’re going to the beach.”

“There” can be an indication of place (“Can I go there with you?”) or a pronoun (“There is a new restaurant opening tonight.”).

9 – To, Two, and Too

Use “two” if you’re referring to the number 2. Ex:“They have two kids.”

You can use “too” in place of “also” or “in addition to”. Ex: “I’d like to go too.”

I know that this information is likely just a reminder for you. These are very silly mistakes, but they are also very common, which makes them even more embarrassing when we make them! The bright side is that all of these errors are easily fixed and can be prevented with careful proofreading.

Facebook is one of the largest social networking, or blog, site in the world, if not the largest one yet. It is said that there are more than three hundred million users on face book, and that there no less than 50 percent of that number logged in at any given time. This makes the marketing potential for your business look very good, as long as we are on the subject you may want to know a little more about the many facebook tools for blogs.

Now, if you think that facebook is simply a blog site, or a social networking site, then you will have to rethink your way of thinking. Facebook is more than that, and it offers your business a way to market and gain more traffic to your site and it is as simple as creating a fan group page for your site.

If you are looking for a bit more, you will find that there are a few other way that faebook will help you site grow and gain more traffic, so that you can make more sales. The first of the Facebook tools for blogs you may want to pay attention to is the group buyer that face book offer.

This is a tool that is similar to E-bay and other market places out there. If you want to make use of this application, all you need to do is set it up on your face book page, you will then set a link to your group buyer page on your official site, and if anyone want to buy from you, they can do so via your facebook group buyer, you will need to inform your clients that they will need a PayPal account to make any purchases.

MUSICIANS/ARTISTS JOIN THE CAUSE AND BE PART OF ION’S ODYSSEY & OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS!

Sharing music while sharing our crucial message, worldwide! Go Research Fund and Debbie Stevens, are inviting musicians/artists from all walks of life & from every corner of Australia and beyond, to make a video for the GRF “Feel teal” campaign- Self-promote your music, while showing support for our cause! With Rick Finch as spokesman, we now welcome the crew from Ion’s Odyssey aboard!

The Go Research Fund , together with seven time Grammy Award Winner, co-founder/former-original bassist of legendary 70’s music group,”KC and the Sunshine Band,” Arranger/Producer, Richard Finch and Baby Boomer Diva’s awareness campaigner Debbie Stevens, launched the first-ever, social-media online campaign, to raise awareness to ovarian cancer.

The Go Research Fund’s vision, is to improve the health outcomes for women suffering from ovarian and gynaecological cancers and to increase community awareness of these diseases. Their Challenge – is to find a blood test that will allow all women to be screened for ovarian cancer and diagnosed while the disease is in its early stages.

On Friday, September 4th,2009, the “Feel teal Friday” campaign was launched, with all focus placed on the various online social networks, posting all details of this event & those who were supporting- Rick Finch became the spokesman for the campaign, speaking publicly in support of the crucial need to see every female be made aware of the disease, and its symptoms. Rick’s commitment to the campaign going one step further, by the announcement of his offer to donate 50% of net-sales, from his latest CD; “For All Reasons”, to help fund the research towards finding an early screening test. The track, “Let’s dance again”, has been used to promote the event while encouraging a positive outcome for those affected either directly, or indirectly by this cancer….’Feel teal and dance again for ovarian cancer awareness’. It was recently agreed, that more time was required for this project, ensuring the ‘awareness message’ reached every corner of the globe, and allowing the supporters more time to promote the availability of Rick’s wonderful CD. It has been our great pleasure, to welcome others on-board to support the campaign, including the crew from Ion’s Odyssey; Lance Toohey (lyricist/poet), and his partner; Michelle Toohey. Their own quest, to sail the world whilst promoting/interviewing musicians, hosting various concerts & other musical-events, is bound to be on a grand-scale, so the fact they’ve offered to share this with the Go Research Fund, gives more voice to our message! Ion’s Odyssey plan to sail the ovarian cancer awareness message, across the oceans, and beyond….Music is by far, the language of the universe, so what better way to tell it to the world!

Because of this venture, the Go Research Fund’s “Feel teal” campaign continues, and we are now encouraging other artists/musicians, of ALL genres, to join us! All you have to do, is make a video, showing YOUR support for the GRF campaign, sharing our ‘awareness message’, whilst sharing a little about you! Already, people such as Australian Pop/Rock Artist; Anthony Snape, have contributed…you can see our videos at the following links- Youtube:http://www.youtube.com/user/MsDStevens

Digg!

We are sailing with awareness!

ions_sloopThe Go Research Fund’s “Feel teal” campaign has had  some very exciting developments, since launch off, and it doesn’t end there…our celebrity-spokesman, Rick Finch has been busy working in his recording studios, creating more new material while managing his growing stream of  upcoming-artists. Yet,on top of this, he also found time for an interview with one of Sydney’s finest radio programme’s, “Connections” at 2ch radio-
Sharing his music; past & present, he took the 2ch listeners on a well-informed journey then right-up-to-speed with his role as our awareness spokesman, including his wonderful contribution.
Rick’s latest album, “For All Reasons” is currently available for sale both as a download/CD-
The net sales from this cool CD, are being donated towards funding research for a blood-diagnostic test, one that will assist in detecting ovarian cancer in its early stages! This is an amazing boost for Go Research Fund, and we hope to see more people ‘hopping online’ to purchase their copy, knowing the money is going to such an important cause.

Meanwhile, the other news is we’ve linked up with another great project which is going to take the awareness message on another venture…..please read
NOTE:t Ion’s Odyssey is seeking support to bring their dream into reality…they require various levels of sponsorship and happy to discuss every offer. Keep in mind, by supporting this musical-adventure, you will in-turn, be helping ovarian cancer!

Lance Toohey & his lovely partner, Michelle have just joined us .”We have joined the “FEEL TEAL” team and are so proud to be a part of such an important and worthwhile campaign”.
The project:
Projects name: “ION’S ODYSSEY”(Ion being the name of our 38 foot steel sloop which has already circumnavigated the world twice with it’s original owners)
Projects quest: Global Musical Discovery JourneyProjects
Goal: A global search, seeking musical awareness, understanding and talent.
Plus: Giving awareness to Ovarian Cancer Research
Projects members: Lance W Toohey-song lyricist and poet
Michelle Toohey-artist
Outline of Project: We intend to sail around the world (this is the Australian leg) in search of the musical talent that exsists in many countries, from the “closet” muso and the busker in the street, to the professional muso’s who search endlessly for gigs , right up to the “Major Stars” within the music scene. We also intend to seek out and interview “Major” artists (thanks to the great support from APRA) in both the musical and entertainment industry for their imput as to why music is such a large part of people’s lives….AND what does music actually mean to them….all this will be in the form of a documentry.
Even before we start on the actual sailing trip we intend to put into place a songwriting and song performing competition that will be in place and performed (in the form of a concert) at every port /marina (or “venue” available) upon our arrival. Singer/songwriters (with their original works) will be invited to enter this competition via our website,(still to be organised). Advertising of these events and the “Odyssey” will be placed in newspaper adds, radio and possibly television spots. At least a dozen artists will be chosen (judged by a panel of professional musos) from each area around Ion’s destinations and will perform those songs that they have entered into the competition.Judging on the competition night will be done by the public with the phone-in 1900 line…..Competition will be for 2 categories…1, best performer and 2, best song.Venes for this competition (concert) will need to accomodate at least 100 seats, that being for performers, their family and friends and the public…it should also be a free concert. Entry fee for songs are yet to be determined. We will also be inviting “named” to also appear at each “venue”, maybe having a chat and giving encouragement to the performers who have made it to the final judging (maybe perform?) ….also an interview with that artist will take place.
The first stage of this project is here in Australia with the starting point being Cairns. At this point in time we have 15-20 stop off points (this could be reduced if logistics don’t permit). That means 15-20 venues and shows, 15-20 finalists..one from each venue. Our aim is to have one final competition (concert) in a major city to find Australia’s “people choice” and top song.Once we have completed the Aussie leg, we intend to sail to the States and do the same, interest over there is amazing at this stage with a publicist over there already putting certain works into place….they are waiting with interest to see how we handle the Aussie leg…a “pilot” so to speak. At this point in time this is where we are up to, but we intend to continue after the States to other countries where music is a big part of their culture. Our final aim is present to the world, artists from all walks of life whose passion is music and along the way, give the public ongoing “concerts” from around the globe, culminating with a phone-in for the worlds top song/writer and song, as voted by the world’s public.
All the while “flying the flag” for the “FEEL TEAL” campaign.
