Behind the Files-

My decision to become active ‘online’, all began with the death of my dear mother, Judy.
First came my book of poems, published in Sydney with over 150 copies sold, all with the intention of raising much needed awarenessto the disease which had claimed my mother’s life, ovarian cancer. Once I’d had the taste of writing ‘online’, things only progressed and I quickly went about setting up the first of many websites. -It quickly picked up pace and moved to the next level whereby the purpose of creating a ’support network’ appeared- here was an area which seemed to be lacking for many individuals, alas, a website for everyone was ready!
Debsquest opened many doors, it became a meeting place, worldwide!
With a forum in place and the number of members steadily increasing, the next step was incorporating our very own personal Chatroom. Over time, this website became very family-orientated, many friendships born and much more work was required to keep it all together. It didn’t take too long before I could no longer afford the costs of paying someone else to do the designing, so thanks to a friend giving me my own editing tools, I found another vehicle for my work. Debsquest deleted and immediately replaced with A Scent of Freesia, same format just a new look! Choosing the freesia to represent my ideas seemed the logical choice and after more changes/upgrades, today still stands as the flower that symbolizes one daughter’s love & appreciation to the woman who gave her life.
Ovarian cancer crept into our world with no warning, and two sisters with absolutely no comprehension or understanding of its force. We were not ignorant, we simply had never heard of this cancer. While most women are completely focused and aware of breast cancer, this deadly gynaecological cancer was on the move and thriving because it could go undetected! My promise to mum, was at her last request,to make certain other women & girls knew of this ’silent killer’ before it knew them! More webpages and more work online saw the revamp of my freesia site, a bigger umbrella was required to carry both websites which had evolved-DELIBERATELY DEBBIE shares both Scent of a Freesia and pages which display my work as a self-publisher of many books.
The social networking field exploded onto the scene just as I was finding my way around Blogging- with much encouragment from other friends & bloggers, and the superb talents & support of my Boomernationdiva sisters, I too am now busily Tweeting on Twitter….my list of Twitter-tools forever expanding;Tweetlater, Tweetdeck, Splittweet, Twellow, Twollo/Twollow, Bitly, Twitwall and so on, this Landing page the most recent!
There’s so much more to come and if you’re already a Twitterholic, please don’t forget to follow me! I have 2 accounts-
